This Homeopath’s Soapbox
Human salvation lies in the hands of the creatively maladjusted.
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
Once I became a homeopath, I had to get a soapbox. Excuse me while I get on it.
Imagine this headline in tomorrow morning’s newspaper:
Doctor discovers mind-body medicine of 21st century. Treats everything, from common cold to ulcerative colitis. Cures bird flu, west nile virus and e-coli. No side effects. Pennies per dose. Non-toxic. FDA approved. Available now!
This is true. It really happened. More than 200 years ago.
The relatively few number of people whose medicine cabinets are stocked with homeopathic remedies, not drugs, hardly get sick. When they do, they have available a natural substance that rapidly and cleanly catalyzes healing.
Do you believe me? Do you want to?
Most people have some sort of first-aid kit at home; it’s only logical. There’s a homeopathic equivalent that will not only speed healing many times faster, it will substantially minimize your number of doctor visits and shorten convalescence.
It’s not possible for me to turn off my “homeopath” once I get home. I’ve long been not only our “family doctor,” but the “family veterinarian.” Sprinkled throughout my blog are examples of using homeopathy at home (such as Tilly’s Turn). You get to look over my shoulder and hear my thinking process when treating family and pets, so you can do the same for your own some day—i.e., succeed with homeopathy for first-aid and acute care.
Beginning in junior high, I started getting strep throat several times each year. Each Christmas, I’d get back-to-back sinus infections and/or bronchitis that would last all winter. The treatment? Round upon round of antibiotics. Like many of you, I learned about basic herbs that support the immune system. The most well-known is Echinacea. I started interspersing herbs, substituting for conventional drugs when possible. Although a more natural treatment, my problems continued to recur.
Then, I learned about homeopathy. Initially, I mistakenly lumped homeopathy together with other “alternative” healing modalities—the implication being that, while a natural way to boost the immune system, it was partial and subordinate to conventional medicine.
Almost three decades later, I’m here to tell you that homeopathy is not only the alter ego of mainstream medicine, it’s superior in many ways. While nothing substitutes for necessary surgical procedures, homeopathy can prevent the need. Not only does my family benefit, but my pets and fish do, as well.
Hmmm…many symptoms, one remedy, no side effects, affordable.
You’d think some doctor would have discovered this by now.
Wait a minute—one did!
I’ll leave you with a few more gems:
- Homeopathy is confused with herbs and other alternative treatments. It is a complete system of healing that at once treats mind and body.
- Homeopathy treats people—not diseases. It cures both bacterial and viral symptoms. It heals emotional-based symptoms. It stands ready as a viable solution to epidemics and the health insurance crisis.
- Homeopathy is non-violent. Remedies are safety and reliably tested by humans. They are safe even during pregnancy.
- Homeopathy is a green medicine. There are no human or environmental side effects.
Last but not least, homeopathy is a spiritual medicine. Samuel Hahnemann, the doctor who developed homeopathy, spent 50 years doing so, in order that—in his words—“our indwelling, rational spirit can freely avail itself of this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence.”
I can step down now.

Aaaaaaaallllllllllll aboard!
